The Customs House - The University of Queensland

On the way to The Customs House

In front of The Customs House

Being an UQ student for almost 9 months, but this is the first time I've been in The Customs House for listening to the concert performed by UQ musical students. It is always good to learn something different from our professional field...especially the music, which is complementary to our life.
The customs House The heritage-listed Brisbane Customs House, our riverside base at 399 Queen Street in Brisbane's CBD, links University and community as a focal point for cultural and educational activities. The Customs House houses an art collection, and provides brasserie dining as well as facilities for corporate and private functions for up to 350 guests, including a boardroom for meetings, and a seminar room with audio-visual facilities. There is also a ballroom suitable for large gatherings, which holds a series of concerts presented by the University of Queensland School of Music.

The records here are the UQ viola ensembles, Deep Strings, directed by UQ director of Performance Studies, Patricia Pollett.

Katie Yap on Viola

Shostakovich's piano Quintet 57

In this performance, the pianist was a Vietnamese master student-Linh Tran Thai. I was a bit suprised at first when i saw this name on the list, I already can tell for sure this is a Viet name :)

Fause Requiem

Unfortunately, the last 2 performances, my memory card was out of memory, I can't record for the whole piece.
It was an enjoyable time for me and my friend. I also would like to see the next performance with piano, one of the instrument i'd love to learn.
Have a good night ^^

And music is everywhere... ^.*
